I am currently a resident in Gainesville, VA, however a big piece of my heart is still is Scranton, PA where I grew up and where my family is. I attended college at Kutztown University obtaining my undergrad degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology. The two combined have always been extremely interesting to me. During my last semester at school, I decided I wanted to take my focus more into the biological aspect of my degree. I took some time off after I graduated and moved to Ocean City, MD for a few months and then moved my way down to Florida, where I attended the Crime Scene Program at St. Petersburg College. (I’m a huge beach lover so this was one of the most fun times in my life). Other than school and work, I began to find a new passion for nutrition and fitness, which has only gotten stronger over the years.
Once I moved to Virginia, I started working for the Sheriff’s Office in which I was assigned to the Adult Detention Center for 5 years. During that time, I learned so much about myself (I also made some life long friends and met my husband 🙂 but found my focus and attention were still in studying fitness and health, wellness and nutrition. It quickly became my main passion. I made a huge decision when I decided to leave the department and center my career around what I love, instead of what made sense. I immediately obtained my NASM Personal training certification and became a trainer, continue to study Fitness Nutrition and also many aspects of mental health and wellness. I learn something new in this industry every single day and researching it is something I love to do. Now that I am working here at Advantage Physical Therapy with a great team of people, I am learning so much more about the body and ways to not only train it but ways to heal it.
Right now my goal in life is to just be happy, keep on educating myself and travel to as many places as I can. I have a crazy bulldog puppy, great friends and an amazing husband here and now a great team of coworkers and am doing something I love everyday. That is why they say to follow your heart, because it will always lead you right where you belong.
